The C2 will offer you the possibility of making a surveillance camera for children or animals thanks to its integrated microphone. With it more stress you will know everything that happens inside your home. For 140 euros you will therefore have a complete and versatile monitoring tool. Price advice, features, you will be all thanks to our complete test of the Honeywell C2.

Unboxing for honeywell's C2 test

Honeywell's camera is very small, however it is delivered in a large, almost square cardboard box.

Once the latter is opened, we discover the camera, its base, its charging cable and a small sticker with a camera icon.

The camera is simple and small in size. It is therefore quite discreet. The C2 has a metallic-coloured base. Thanks to it, you can rotate the camera 180°. With this feature, you will be able to hang it on the wall or place it on a piece of furniture while still filming correctly. However, you may choose to remove the base to leave just the camera.

The connection is made on the back of the C2. A space is left in the base so that the wire can pass inside discreetly.

Features of Honeywell's C2

The C2 is a surveillance camera connected to wifi. It has a video resolution of 1080p. You will therefore be able to see the images in good quality. In addition, this intelligent surveillance camera allows you to zoom in up to six times. However, with this zoom do not expect a very good image quality. The C2 is equipped with an infrared vision that has a range in night mode of ten meters. It offers a wide field of vision thanks to its 145° angle of view.

This surveillance camera can detect noise. Depending on your needs, you can adjust its sensitivity in the settings. You have the freedom to choose to have him detect a simple whisper or a very loud noise, such as a falling object. If you have alarms that are not connected, C2 will be able to inform you when they start.

C2 can also detect movement. Here again, it is possible to adjust the sensitivity, but also the special areas to be checked. If you are the proud owner of a dog or a robotic vacuum cleaner, it is very likely that you do not want to be warned every time it passes in front of the camera. Honeywell is taking the lead. This means you can set from the application the areas you want the camera to monitor. In the case of the dog or vacuum cleaner, you can therefore tell it not to take into account movements near the ground. You can go up to four detection fields.

The C2 is also equipped with a microphone. With which you will be able to interact with people in your home. If you see the dog on the couch, you can order him to come down. Is your child looking for the remote control? All you have to do is tell him "look at the furniture behind the lamp". C2 is more than just a home surveillance camera, it is also a way to keep an eye or interact with children or animals.

Like many surveillance cameras, C2 offers the possibility to store its images on the Cloud. However, they will only be kept for 24 hours. A little low storage. However, an 8GB SD card is provided. Thanks to it, you will be able to store a lot of video directly on your camera. It is easily changeable. So if you wish, you can put one with a larger capacity.

The C2 can be networked. You will be able to connect it to other Honeywell brand products, but not only. You will also have the possibility to link it to Alexa, to the objects in the Echo dot, Somfy, or Phillips range.

Using this surveillance camera

To start using the camera, you must first download the application of the same name. Thereafter, it is necessary to create an account. Once these two steps have been completed, the camera must be connected to the phone. To do this, a QR code is displayed. Then you have to show it to the camera. During our test of Honeywell's C2, the connection was very easy.

Once the camera and phone are connected, it is time to adjust the settings. This is where you can define your choices in terms of geolocation, noise detection or motion. You can change the settings in the menu at any time.

From the screen, you can trigger a recording, use the microphone or view previously recorded videos. However, this camera is intended for indoor use. It is not waterproof and therefore cannot be used outdoors.

According to our test, the honeywell C2 is very easy to install and use. No need to be a genius in home automation, ten minutes and you're set up.

Conclusion of Honeywell's C2 test

According to our test, Honeywell's C2 is a good, complete camera. It is very easy to install and use. This surveillance camera will be able to detect noise and movement. It offers you the possibility to grid the areas to avoid being disturbed by objects or animals. A camera that does what you ask it to do. It perfectly meets the expectations of the general public and occasional users who want to monitor their apartment or holiday home. It offers what you would expect from a traditional surveillance camera.

H-Elec Confort invents the 100% smart home system built in 10 days

If like me you had the chance to build, you should know that it is a long adventure. In addition to the paperwork, the construction itself usually takes between six months and a year. Today, we are beginning to see the appearance of houses in "kits", capable of being assembled in a few days. But the originality of H-ELec Confort's project is to offer a totally industrializable home, already meeting the thermal and energy standards of 2020, "intelligent" thanks to home automation, and with a construction time of 10 days!

f:id:eugejon:20180925162334j:plain

H-Elec Confort is a company created in 2011 by Sébastien Horemans, which specializes in all home renovation work: insulation, painting, carpentry, heating, plumbing, electricity but also the installation of technological equipment to optimize and automate tasks in a house. In other words, home automation.

Made up of a team of a dozen people, this company based in the Somme region has nearly 500 individual clients, but also social landlords, companies such as the PPG Group, the Garage de l'Etoile, a departmental Chamber of Agriculture, La Tech Amiénoise and the Departmental Union of Family Associations (UDAF)...

Using only craftsmen with at least 20 years of career (and therefore experience), the company aims for a very high level of customer satisfaction. It also has many recognized qualifications: Qualibat, Qualigaz, asbestos SS4 and the mention RGE (Recognized Guarantor of the Environment), etc....

But H-Elec Confort also has a strong interest in Innovation and Research & Development. And it is precisely this point that interests us here. Indeed, thanks to their experience in social housing and extensions to timber-framed housing, H-Elec Confort has devised a housing model that is fully industrialisable, already meeting the thermal and energy standards of 2020. The company is currently working, within the framework of the regional competences linked to IARD (Argo Matériaux Picard centre of excellence) and in partnership with the UPJV (University of Picardy), on the prototype of a home automation housing, called "intelligent" type F4, which will be prefabricated, modular and with the following specificities:

  • Low energy consumption
  • Bio-sourced materials
  • Modular partitions adapted to the evolution of the family
  • Upgradeable electrical installation (plugs and switches can be moved without any work)
  • Construction time limited to 10 working days

A very interesting project, but one that requires funding. This is why the company is looking for 80 000€, via the Entrepreneurs website, which is a kind of Kickstarter for companies. With a slightly different approach, since here it is a question of lending money to companies, which will then repay their loan month after month, with interest. Individuals become in a way the "bank" of these companies seeking financing, when banks sometimes have difficulty seeing the full value of the project. For individuals, it is a way to invest money with a higher return on investment than savings books, while supporting projects in which they believe.
